Campaign name: “Cyster 2 Cyster Rally Event”
I selected this campaign because of my own battle with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). When I was first diagnosed, I felt lost and alone. Even though PCOS is a common disorder, there are not a lot of resources available. I felt it was important to create an event that can happen and that should happen to create awareness of PCOS. The title of the event comes from women with PCOS calling themselves “Cysters” because in some ways, we are like sisters. About PCOS: As stated above, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a female reproductive disorder that occurs in 1 in 10 women. PCOS is also a hormone imbalance disorder, causing metabolism problems that affect a woman’s health and appearance. It is also one leading cause of infertility in women. While PCOS is common, many women are unaware they have it or are misdiagnosed. Symptoms of PCOS: irregular menstrual cycle, polycystic ovaries, excessive hair on body, face and chin (also called Hirsutism), facial and body acne, thinning hair or hair loss, excessive weight gain or difficulty losing weight, darkened skin, and skin tags. The causes of PCOS are high levels of androgens and high levels of insulin. While PCOS is not curable, it is treatable with weight loss, exercise, medication and a clean diet. Situation: Cyster 2 Cyster is hosting a rally event to spread awareness and support of PCOS. The organization wants to increase public awareness of both the event and the disorder. Objective/Goal:
Cyster 2 Cyster provides the information necessary to help the woman’s support system understand every detail of this disorder because it is confusing. The rally will be held to educate the general public as well. Because PCOS is not often discussed outside of medical offices, it is important this event will create more awareness and a better understanding of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Primary audience: women with PCOS Secondary audience: women with potential PCOS, family members. It will also target media outlets such as social media users who share their expertise about PCOS, Women’s Health Magazines, and Podcasts. Cyster 2 Cyster will also use local health care providers. Strategy for reaching the goal: Cyster 2 Cyster is based on the idea of women getting the proper support and help they need to battle this disorder. The strategy is to tell parents, spouses, friends and loved ones how important PCOS is to the woman and her overall health needs. The theme- sisters (cysters) supporting and showing empathy for one another. Tactics:

Ethical or Legal Issues: The only foreseeable ethical issue could arise with doctors, nutritionists, dietitians and special guests giving out items or misinforming people about the dieting culture, as well as prescribing supplements and medication to potential patients.
